Obesity is an epidemic rampant in our nation. About 1 in 5 children face obesity with an increased risk of chronic diseases. Why is a problem? Over 23 million Americans including 6.5 million children live in food deserts, the areas without easy access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food. In Massachusetts alone, there are 2.8 million people who are in low-income areas without access to grocery stores or affordable fresh food.
